Whakaata Māori MĀORI+ App update Giveaway August 2026 Terms and Conditions

1. These Terms and Conditions relate to the giveaway promotion provisionally called “MĀORI+ App update Giveaway” (“the Promotion”).
2. The prize for the Promotion is a prize pack which includes:
There will be one winner for this prize pack. Setup, mobile service, internet access, subscriptions and accessories are not included. Delivery to one New Zealand address is included.
3. Your entry into the Promotion is deemed to be acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
4. The Promoter is Māori Television Service, trading as Whakaata Māori, (the “Promoter”), acting through the Whakaata Māori official social media accounts named MĀORI+, including but not limited to https://www.facebook.com/maoritelevision Facebook account and https://www.instagram.com/maoriplus/ Instagram account (“the Promoter’s Social Media Accounts”).
5. The Promotion starts on Monday 24th August 2026 at 5:00pm and closes on Sunday 13th September 11:59pm (“Promotional Period”). Entries received outside of the Promotional Period will not be accepted.
6. No purchase or payment is required for entry into the competition, and the Māori+ app is free to download.
7. Employees and independent contractors and their immediate family members of the Promoter and the Promoter’s retailers, suppliers, associated companies and agencies are not eligible to enter the Promotion. Employees and independent contractors of the Government, Crown agencies and/or Crown entities must adhere to any gift and ethics policies that may be applicable to them when entering the Promotion or accepting any prize.
8. To enter the Promotion you are required to fulfil all the following criteria:
a. Be a permanent resident of New Zealand
b. Have an active account on the MĀORI+ app
c. Be a follower of any of the Promoter’s Social Media Accounts
d. Comment your favourite show or film that is on MĀORI+ in the comment section of the Promoter’s Social Media post referencing the Promotion
e. Be aged 16 years or over at the time of draw.
8a. You may participate in the Promotion as many times as you like
8b. At the time of the draw, you must remain a follower of the Māori+ social media account and have an active Māori+ account.
9. There will be one Prize winner. The winner of the Prize will be chosen at random using a Randomiser app. The winner of the Prize will be contacted via Instagram (IG) or Facebook (FB). The Promoter’s decision regarding the distribution of the Prize is final, and no correspondence will be entered into with any entrant of the Promotion. Acceptance of the Prize is subject to the following terms:
9a. The Prize is for the Prizes listed in the Prize pack only, and any mobile data or internet costs involved in entry in the Promotion is the entrant’s ordinary cost.
9b. Apple is not a participant in or sponsor of this promotion.
9c. The Promoter may request proof of identity, and/or proof of the validity of the entry in the Promotion from the winner. If such proof is not provided by the winner or if the proof provided is not deemed to be sufficient by the Promoter, the winner will be considered to have forfeited their Prize.
9. The winner must respond to the above IG or FB messages (as described in clause (8)) informing them of their Prize within (3) three working days and provide the Promoter with complete and accurate information including a valid postal address so that they may be sent their Prize securely. If the winner fails to respond and provide the Promoter with complete and accurate information, including a valid postal address within (3) three working days of being notified they will be disqualified, and a new winner will be drawn.
10. By participating in the Promotion, you will be providing your information solely to the Promoter, not to Instagram, Facebook or any other third-party social media platform. This Promotion is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram or any other third-party social media platform.
11. All entries become the property of the Promoter. By participating in the Promotion, you are transferring all rights, title, copyright and interest (if any) vested in your entry to the Promoter.
12. The Prize cannot be exchanged for cash.
13. The Prize is not transferable. If the winner is unable to accept their Prize, the Promoter may disqualify the winner, and a new winner will be drawn.
14. If the winner accepts a prize, they will be solely responsible for all fees and costs (if any) associated with accepting the prize.
15. By participating in the competition, the winning entrants permit their name, image and likeness appearing in connection with the Promotion, the Promoter or the advertising or marketing, in any media whatsoever throughout the world in perpetuity. If under 18, the winning entrant must provide written parent or guardian approval of the use of their name image and likeness to claim the prize. Participation in publicity is a condition of accepting the prize.
14. The Promoter, its suppliers, associated companies, and agencies will not be liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential loss or damage which is suffered because of your participation in the Promotion or winning any prize.
15. The Promoter is not responsible for any errors that may occur during the Promotion or in the awarding of the Prize. The Promoter accepts no liability for any errors.
16. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
17. The Promoter may modify these Terms and Conditions at any time prior to the commencement of the Promotion. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, suspend or change the Promotion or any element of the Promotion for any reason, including any cancellation, suspension or change necessitated by any event outside of The Promoter’s control.
18. You are responsible for all content submitted as part of your entry. The Promoter shall not be liable for the breach of any third party’s rights resulting from your entry.
19. The Promoter may remove any content associated with the Promotion from its social media accounts without notice, for any reason whatsoever.
20. You agree that you will not submit any content that is defamatory, fraudulent, or that breaches intellectual property, privacy, or other rights, contains offensive language, or any material otherwise unsuitable for publication.
21. You will comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding the access or use of others’ computer(s) or communication systems.
22. No responsibility is accepted by the Promoter for entries that are late, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or lost, incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human error, technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software, inability to access telecommunications network services, or any other error or malfunction whatsoever, and is in no way liable for any entries not lodged, or incorrectly lodged, in the Promotion database.
