TE PĀMU KŪMARA RETURNS IN SEASON TWO

Season Two sees a change in Tai Kahu, played by Owairea Tawera, and her superhuman whānau are back, with Tai navigating the world as a Rangatahi Māori and meeting new friends and challenges along the way.

With six 10-minute episodes all available to stream free with no ads on the MĀORI+ app, TE PĀMU KŪMARA, is one of the only scripted-drama fluent Māori shows for tamariki and is funded by Te Māngai Pāho.

Te Ataraiti Waretini, producer of TE PĀMU KŪMARA says the show “has been particularly meaningful to ensure tamariki have a high quality reo Māori drama to connect to not just the non-Māori shows that they are used to.

“The scripted children’s drama series stays true to its ethos and kaupapa of Māori representation on and off the screen and will again bring together a talented whānau of creatives, crew and cast of popular and up and coming Māori.

TE PĀMU KŪMARA is full of the same wholesome magic we saw in season one, but we went a step further this time around, with the inclusion of a Māori speaking character with a French accent, played by Reuben Butler, showing tamariki that no matter where they are in the world, so too is their reo,” says Te Ataraiti.

“We meet another new ‘character’ too, Mokomoko, who reinforces the power of karakia,” says Te Ataraiti.

“Kōrero to and fro between people and creatures, food packets all in te reo Māori, along with shop signs.

“Here’s what to expect. Tai is presented with a unique opportunity, Nīkau gets a confidence boost with the help of an unexpected friend, Amaia uses her investigative skills, Nan is torn between the happiness of her mokopuna or the whenua, Marama has a crush and Mikaere finds himself in the middle of tweenage arguments.

“All of this and they don’t see what Grace and Pāora are plotting,” says Te Ataraiti.
