Written, produced and directed by Julian and Becs Arahanga of Awa Films, KIRI reflects an unapologetically Māori narrative grounded in whakapapa, te reo Māori, resilience and the mysteries that exist just beyond what we can see.

Set in Wellington during the early 1980s, the series follows a quiet but extraordinary 14 year old girl gifted with the ability to heal through Māori mātauranga.

When word of her powers begins to spread, people seek her out in hopes of finding answers, healing and salvation. But while some see Kiri as a source of hope, others fear what they cannot understand. As authorities attempt to control her gifts, those closest to her recognise that Kiri carries a rare connection to realms and knowledge long forgotten.

Designed specifically for mobile-first viewing, the series unfolds across 10 episodes of three minutes each, offering a cinematic and immersive experience tailored to the way audiences increasingly consume content.
